Can any of you 944 experts confirm that once the cam belt is replaced and set using the tdc marks, the engine is then turned back 10 degrees to align the balancer shaft pulleys with their reference points so that the balancer shaft belt can be fitted. Helping out a friend with an '84 944 lux that has comprehensively blown the head gasket. Yes we will be getting the tension set correctly.

From an artcile in 911 & Porsche World - June 2001, they quoted 'turning back (anticlockwise) 10 deg" as a final step in the procedure when tensioning the cambelt without the tensioner tool, after the engine had been rotated clockwise, 360 deg.

This was on a 85 944 non turbo.
