Howdy,

I've a 1987 lux and the boot has never opened with the key. I checked it out and the cylinder itself was in bits (looks like something broke off)

I took the boot lock cylinder out and removed the barrel and put it in a replacement cylinder which is great, however the new boot lock cylinder has a 3 wire molex end on it and a switch that is activated when the key is turned (which i assume is the bit that broke off.

The problem is I can't find anywhere that this 3 pin connector connects in order to activate the boot motor,

has anyone got pictures of how theres is set up or any advice?

Hi I think the new lock is from a late S2. They dont have any direct mechanical connection with the latches, it is merely a switch like the one in the footwell, you will need another lock from an earlier car, it should not have any wires.

I would not bother trying to make it fit the S2 electrical only release is a pain when the battery goes flat as you have to climb in the boot to release it manually at the catch. Just fit an earlier model lock, I lso think the motor for the S2/turbo is wired differently it has a different plug to enable it to be actuated by the lock, I have a spare working motor from an S2 in the garage but it has no cable holder on the motor if the one from your old motor would fit you could have it.

I'm a bit gutted to be honest but I'll have to go with it,

Ill try and find an old manual boot lock and switch my cylinder over to it,

The locks are easy enough to make fit your key if you have a couple of spare levers.
I made up 3 to the patten of the ignition key, then cut my own spare key.
