944 boot release

Guest

New member
New to 944 ownership, just purchased (1 month ago) a 1988 944 Lux with 74K and FSH. A great car. I have one very small problem, the boot will not release due to the fact that the metal catch which connects the cable to the motor has snapped off. The motor turns when I release the boot using the switch or the key. What I need is just the metal connector. Any ideas?

Any help would be appreciated.

I'd phone a main dealer - it might well be buttons and as it's not a rare failure it's an available part. In fact I'd phone Adrian Oxley at Exeter OPC.[FONT=verdana, geneva"] [FONT=verdana, geneva"]Note to all - Adrian says remember to say you're from the forum as you get more discount from him that way [;)][FONT=verdana, geneva"]

Yep I got one from him last year for £6

If I'm looking at the right invoice [&:] it's called a Bowden cable and is part number 944.512.097.03

Just in case you didn't know 'Bowden cable' is the type of cable (a generic term), it isn't the name for that particular part. So quote the number to avoid confusion and glazed looks.[:)]
Cheers,
