Hi, my 944 drivers side seat side bolster has worn through and I wondered if the leather (very shiny) is available? Best Keith

Difficult to see from the pictures but I think white944 is correct. Cloth trim with leatherette sides. If it was leather I had to buy half a hide to get mine repaired recently as trimmer didn't want Burgundy leather sat on shelf (not asked for very often) and could sell you the left over (enough to cover half a cow!!!). Mine was replaced by AJ Trimming near High Wycombe. Very good job and perfect match on the grain. 30 years of wear and dirt do make for a more shiny surface but as the trimmer points out it will soon blend as you slide your bum over it a few times and expose the leather to light etc.

It's definitely vinyl. You only get leather in "full" leather seats, and at that the seat backs and rear seats are still vinyl. From the factory actual full leather could be specified at a cost, then seat backs and rears would also be leather. You could also spec the door cards and roof covering in leather if you were that way inclined, even the centre console I think. But all that is uber rare.

The steering wheel and gear gaiter are the only standard leather items I think.

I bought a tatty scrap seat and stripped the vinyl off the backrest cover for the trimmer to repair mine with. Guaranteed match with same age original material.

Thanks very much for your replies....edge looked leather but stand corrected! Will source the vinyl, cheers Keith

Keith,
My car has cloth pinstripe centre sections on the seat fronts. But the bolsters are definitely leather. I feed the bolsters with leather cream, it soaks in quickly, that would not happen with vinyl. Also the dye has worn off the bolsters leaving pale leather, again vinyl is coloured all the way through its thickness, so my bolsters are definitely leather
