Hi all.

Request below is self-explanatory, if anyone's interested please give me a call on 07971 832780 and I'll put you in touch with the magazine.

[blockquote]I’m putting together a multi-car feature, to be shot at Chobham in Surrey on Monday 31st October for Classic Cars magazine, and I need a Porsche 944 Cabriolet (normally-aspirated).

Could you point me in the direction of an owner who’d be interested in taking part? We would need to drive the car, but it wouldn’t be ‘track tested’, and would be fully insured.
[/blockquote]

This is great fun, and a nice little extra to have with the car. This is my old car at Chobham.

Hi,

911 & PW mag have just done Transaxle features in the last 2 months, the editor is also a Fan and has a 944 2.5 N/A,

The mag is ready to do a feature on my 924S 2.7, but I'm NOT ready yet as It's too stiff and needs softening as it's a lightweight modified Road
car and NOT like many which are "stiff as a board" and downright uncomfortable on british roads etc..

EVO magazine have also shown interest and they do a lap at a track and have a list of modern machinery which I thought would
be nice if the old girl did well against the modern hatches etc,!

This car has a higher power to weight figure than standard 944 turbo's (both) and the 968 , but I see on your signature your bhp is a fair chunk
more than stock! only I was considering finding and gathering together a totally standard 944 Turbo and a 968 and then the idea would be
that against my skinny 924 it would be quicker! but yours I sense has too many ponies!

As mentioned above I'm in the process of softening the car and the current 190 lbs front springs are being replaced with 160's and this should assist
with the ride quality, but it won't handle as well on a track! which I'm not fussed with but a Magazine does a track test it's better staying on the 190's!

We'll see how things pan out, but the objective to be quick road car works really well, and I've only had the car finished for 2 months after (3.5 years)
but I have already hacked off a lot of powerful (But heavy!) sportcar's on the road...which was the intention !

Hi Roger...your car sounds like a fun machine to drive although there's more to performance than the power to weight ratio...yes it helps off the line and I bet it would be very quick around a track .. the Turbo is a different beast...it's relatively slow off the mark but at mid range it's a true champ even in standard form. It has very long legs and even with a basic tune won't loose acceleration until it hits the redline in all gears.. I followed these cars on the race circuit for a number of years until they were finally banned from the Porsche Pirelli/Michelin cup championships as they just kept winning against Porsche's latest models, final straw being when they even beat the then new GT3's and we are talking standard engine output here...just imagine then what a well sorted 951 is capable off.....:)

Good luck with your lightweight....hope to see it and you at one of the meets some day...

cheers

Pete

I can offer an S3 if they'd prefer the final iteration to the S2!!:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO: It even has the tiptronic gearbox, which really suits the cabriolet.
