944 Champers & Chips - Southend-on-Sea

Following the success of the R11 Champers & Chips (now on it's fourth year) Belinda and I are hosting a dedicated evening for the 944 community.

In short, we gather at Belinda's beach hut (on the promanade at Shoebury) eat fish and chips and drink bubbly (not too much as we are driving). There will be orange juice or lemonade for those that don't do bubbly and coffee for afterwards.

We pre-order the fish & chips/scampi & chips/sausage & chips/chicken & chips etc. so those attending can get on and enjoy each others company while the food is collected for them.

There is a large car park immediately behind the beach hut (so ideal for tyre kicking) and the beach and sea immediately in front.

No doubt afterwards we might have to go for a drive down the sea front to look/laugh at the Southend Cruisers.

The location for those of you with sat nav or who want to look on Google Earth (or MS Virtual Earth which is clearer in this instance) is:-

lat="51.52378" lon="0.77446"

The date is Saturday 16th June at 7:30pm. and cost will be £7.50 each.

Spaces are very limited (it is only a small hut) so please contact me by private e-mail promptly if you wish to come along and so we can arrange your food order.

Obviously we can't guarantee good weather but I have every confidence it will be an evening to remember what ever happens.

wow sounds excellent John. Pity i'm too far away to join you, maybe we should arrange something similar in other club areas. Will have to suggest it to Gord theres lots of nice coast down here with Lyme Regis, Seaton, Burton Bradstock etc .

I'm really sorry that work will mean I'll miss this, theoretically I could leave at 5.30 and be there in time, but I'm not sure I'd be in the right frame of mind after a couple of hours journey on top of a busy days work.

and the drive from Crewkerne down into Lyme Regis (B3165) has to be one of the best in the country. It is currently in my top 3 after the road from Sherborne down towards Sturminster (A3030), not remotely picturesque but constant open bends. My favourite used to be the backroad into Corfe Castle via Steeple and Church Knowle but it is far to narrow to drive fast. Brilliant for tourists that want to sit on top of the tank firing range and see some of the best views on the south coast.

Not to worry chaps - it'll just mean there will be more totty on the beach for the rest of us.........and we will be able to talk about you behind your backs. [:D]

Sorry you can't make it but, if things change, let me know.

Would have loved to John, However I have promised to take the missus up to London and stay up there Sat night.
Still have not got the 944 back in one peice yet too!!!

This evening, after the R11 Champers & Chips, Rick & I did a circuit of the Southend Cruise to see what was about for next week.

We might have been a little early at 11:00pm but there was a fair number of Chav delights to laugh at. Unfortunately we didn't have the radios so we couldn't really enjoy the moment to it's full extent. Next Saturday should be ideal though. [:D]

We were even buzzed by a Fiesta with Cobra stripes and blue neons on the way home :ROFLMAO:. Children.

It's time someone found the Southend Cruuz forums and see what they are writing about two oldtimers in poor mans Porsches last night :ROFLMAO:

What were they thinking a Fiesta whatever next eh.

I'm at the age where I should find these chavvy little things to be cool and be impressed by the person at work who has a Punto turbo of some variety with bits protruding from once there was none 'yuk' who keeps asking to race me but I have to say know because I wouldn't want to waste my time he annoys me as it is.

The road to Blandford from Sherbourne is not bad either through Kings Stag. Did that daily to work for 2 years. Its amazing how quickly you can do it in the wet and fog in the morning rush hour (kids run) when you seem to be habitually late for work. !
And tha was in my Mondeo TDi lol[:D]
Another really good straight road for outright speed is the `radar hill' road from Crewkerne to Dorchester. quiet and undulating its nearly always empty.

For thems of you what aren't sure where Southend-on-Sea is:-

And here is the beach hut.
Note car park behind and beach (with idylic bobbing boats) in front.

We have 10 places left but I really need to know, by tomorrow lunch time, if anyone else would like to join us as I need to get the food order in.

A big thank you to those who turned up and made it a great fun evening ......not that any who turned up didn't make it a fun evening.

Tony gets the accolade of "Furthest travelled" and also for "Sweetest passenger" (twice)
Charles get the accolade for being there first and having naff side skirts
Rick gets a special award for being there late but just in time for chips
Jane, Yud' and Sian are joint winners of "sexiest chip eaters"

Rich gets no awards at all but will henceforth be know as "The man with no car"

I will post a few of the pictures when I get time but will be keeping the ones of Sian in a bikini for my own personal use. :p

It was a great evening, but I'm puzzled as to why I didn't get included in the "sexiest chip eater" award? You clearly saw me eating chips in an obviously suggestive manner....[8|]

Deep throating 8" of sliced fried root tuba does not constitute sexy........Unless you are another potato.

Trying too hard is never going to be sexy Paul [:'(]

Personally I don't understand why Belinda hasn't been mentioned [8D] or was the hostess with the mostest excluded because of the rules [&:]

Hi,
well worth the effort and good to see you all, shame we couldnt get Charles' skirts to fit anything - not for the want of trying though ;) Big thankyou to you and Belinda for being top hosts,
Tony
