944 Clutch Master Cylinder Stroke

Hi,

My first post here. I hope someone can help me out.

Can anyone tell me the maximum stroke of the clutch master cylinder for a (1983-1990) 944?

Perhaps someone has a spare one that they can measure?

I am thinking about using this master cylinder for a car I''m building. It looks like it would be a great fit, but I want to make sure the stroke is adequate. It looks like this same M/C is used on several other models as well; here is a list:

77-82 924
87-88 924s
78-82 928
83-84 928s
83-90 944
87-88 944s
89-91 944s2

Thanks,

Jeff

Why do you ask? More info please.

The pedal stroke is determined firstly by the relationship between master and slave diameter/volume ratios, leverage available and mechanical advantage required?

To summarise why not utilise the OE factory items?

Paul,

I ask because this master cylinder looks like a great candidate for a hydraulic clutch conversion I am adding to a 65 Mustang.

I also looked at using a 83 BMW 320i (similar design) however the stroke is only 1.3" and I need 1.6" (12cc) to fully actuate the slave cylinder. This M/C appears to have a fairly long cylinder between the input and output ports so it likely has a long stroke. Most of the clutch M/C 's seem to have a vertical mounting flange but I need a horizontal pattern to avoid the brake M/C.

65 Mustang, 507HP, 5spd (with a not so great clutch linkage)

Thanks,

Jeff
