How long would you expect a oem clutchs to last in a 250 bhp 944 turbos? Been looking through the history on my 112000 mile car and cant seem to find out if its ever been changed!?

Cheers.

I wouldn't be surprised by that ... my S2 is at 127k (I think) and is still on the original clutch as far as I know.

(They are expensive to change, so look after it!)

Oli.

I changed the original clutch plate on my S2 at 101k. The only reason it was changed was because the shock absorbing rubber had completely sheared, causing excess drivetrain backlash. The clutch plate had plenty of friction material left and would have gone on for many more thousands of miles.

Thanks,

I'm guesing due to the faily simular power turbo's will have a simular life expectancy then. Anyone know a rough price on a clutch change through a good speciallist?

Depends where you are, but a well known 944 specialist near Bolton quotes £930+vat on their website. Cheap it is not !

I had to replace the clutch at 90K. As mentioned in the previous thread mine was also due to the rubber insert on the clutch plate breaking up. New clutch supply and fitted was £3 short of £700 !!.

A lots depends on how they have been treated over the years I guess.

The rubber failed on my clutch plate at 130K on my 86 lux but it kept going for another 5k before failing! Mine cost about £550 but I had the work done at my local sports car specialist who is brilliant (and cheap) Its only a clutch its not rocket science. It doesn't necessarily need to be done by a Porsche specialist imo
