944 Electric Window weirdness

A friends 944 has a strange problem with the passenger side electric window; you can only lower/raise it if the driver presses the button on their side at the same time. Any suggestions for the problem?

I'd vote for bad connections in the switch (probably ground). The driver's switch may be providing the needed ground in this instance. I found "cold" solders in the window switch on my '91 when I had the door card off (passenger side coincidentally) . One wire literally fell into my hand when I removed the switch panel from the door card. I cleaned it up with electrical contact cleaner and then re-soldered the wire into the connector - if memory serves there was plenty of solder - it just wasn't stuck to the wire :)

While you are in there ... I had the drivers door switch act up on my last fall - could hardly press it down. Took the switch apart (simple with gentle prying between the switch back and sides) and I found the switch was dried out and the metal ball that "rocks" along the copper contact strip had fallen out of alignment. Again a thorough clean with electrical contact cleaner, a dab of switch grease (which helps hold the ball in place while you snap the switch back together) and it works great.
