944 Essex Posse to ride again ?

As April is now upon us, I was wondering if anyone is planning to head to the Essex regional meet again this month and maintain our 944 presence there ? Was really good last time out and it would be nice to make it a regular thing.

It's Tuesday the 13th 8 P.M , and my passport is fully in order for a trip to Essex.

If anyone would like some duck eggs on the night let me know as the ducks are now
in ' full swing' for the spring [;)]

Regards
Mas

hiya all, sorry work commitments prevent my attendance in april, but will def be at may meeting, see you then all,if not before! regards jason p

As one of those who contributed to the last 944 outing, I probably should say that I won't be there. Sorry.

It's too far for a regular outing (over an hour and a half from East London, in traffic) and I'm not a PCGB member. And I don't think it's quite on for me to gate-crash more than one event as a non-member.

(Of course the 'Do I join?' question is a relevant one. But my main reason for joining would be to attend a decent local meet, and there isn't one closer than Essex. I don't think.)

So, sorry, but i'ahm ooot. </DuncanBannatyne>

You're always welcome, Oli. [;)]

In all seriousness it would be odd to go to Club events as a non-member. Fine to try it out, and see what goes on, but why go month after month to a Club night when you've no interest in the Club. London has it's regular night for all Porsche enthusiasts at the Ace, which would be a very good place to get a regular 944 gathering going.

If enough people made the effort, it would encourage more new people to make the journey. Sadly for me I can't do the Monday nights it's moved to, but it's a great venue as long as you know a decent bunch of fellow 944ers are going.

Of course it's not easy to get from East London to the Ace, despite it being only a few miles away. It's worth braving the traffic, perhaps the Summer barbeque would be one to plan for?

Paul,

Thanks!

While I am sure I would be made most welcome by the people there, I think I would be outstaying my welcome if I turned up more than once. I strongly support the club but realise (as has been said on here many times) that I am freeloading on it's kindness enough as it is; I am a VERY regular member of this forum and really appreciate the support it offers to me as a 944 owner. I'd love to be a regular part of a local gathering and if there was a conveniently local one to me then I'd be a signed-up member and regular attendee long ago.

Yes, Ace is (as the crow flies) very close to me. But getting there with even a clear run would take me about an hour (or at least it did when I drove out of town on Bank Holiday Friday just gone) and in the rush hour it would be nearer two.

The fatboys meet is a possibility tho'. Maybe I should be showing a solid interest in that one. If there was a local meet with a decent 944 turn-out, I'd love to be a part of it. (I may even speak to some of the 951 owners there. If they were nice to me.)

Oli.

hiya oli, hope your well, i would certainly be up for a meet at fatboys, its local and has a reasonable sized car park, as i understand the meet at fatboys is mainly attended by 911 owners at the moment [ i stand corrected if this is wrong!],so i havent attended as i would want to meet up with front engined owners also its a "get-together" and not an official meet, i would attend if a few of us could make it, regards jason p

Not that I'm remotely important [&o] but just a curtesy post to say that I won't be at the Essex P.C.G.B meet.

I have somewhere else I neeed to be on Tuesday and possibly every Tuesday from now on so 'may' not be at that meet again. As it happens this particular pastime will require my attendence Saturday mornings so it looks like most of my car meets this year will be Sunday or evening ones.

Cheers
