Can anyone help please, am trying to repair the wife's 944 as the headlights come up, one is off and one is on, but when i put them on high beam the one that was on goes off and the other one comes back on.... any ideas would be grateful. I have checked the relay and the fuses and the bulbs and the wiring to a point but not being an expert it is not easy.

Thanks

Ade

With our cars as they age, so the wiring loses flexibility.
With the headlights the wiring generally fails in the last foot behind the headlights.
Splicing in new wire, either with soldered ends and sleeves or with soldered bullet connectors and sleeves, is the quickest way of solving the problem.

I also had a failure somewhere in the wiring loom from the switches at the steering column - that involved the washers. Again that was cured by running a new wire 'jumper from close to the switch down to the pump. Don't be tempted to simply cut the old one away though, as you then find you don't get three or four sweeps after washing the screen.

Thanks Steve, the fault was a wire behind the headlight, like you said in the last foot. Very happy now as problem resolved enabling us to sell it (not that we want to but needs must)
