Why is it that the US 944's have less BHP and Tourque?
And double air bags?

There hp is not the same as our bhp, the actul power output is the same just a different number, if you catch my drift.

Who wants air bags, have you seen what the steering wheel looks like

Some were also detuned because of the extra emissions tests they had to pass. The 944 Turbo had Prosche's first 'world engine' I believe.

No, at the time the USA did get less hp, due to the extra exhaust emission stuff they had to run with (eg, cats), that the rest of the world didn't have to have.
Now, we all have it, so power output is effectively the same worldwide.

My S2 is a May '89 which is before the CAT's were fitted. So does that mean Aug '89 and onwards when they were fitted, have a different power out put?

Maybe...........I met someone a few years ago who had an early 911 C4 which came cat-less from the factory, and should not officially have existed. On a rolling road test bhp was significantly higher that the 250 quoted for the worldwide engine.

The CAT and non CAT engines had exactly the same output. It was a major part of the marketing at the time. They raced ones with CATS to show that the CAT did not affect the output.

the 247 and 250 is purely down to different ways of measuring power.
