It's something to do with production dates - end of production I'm guessing as the 959 is in there. It will be there soon, but it's only a couple of years since the 924 appeared on there and production of it stopped a full 6 years before the 944.

I'm thinking the criterium is 'out of production for 15 years'.

That would make sence. So in three years time we can claim to own a "Classic Porsche". Methinks there could be a few 911 owners who's noses would be put out by the thought. [;)]

The term 'classic' when applied to cars can mean so many different things to different people, a bit like when a piece of furniture becomes an antique (is this at 50 years old or 100 years, I dunno I'll check the date on my MFI stuff [:D])

I certainly don't regard the 944 as a classic car. To me when someone says classic car I think of 1950's Jags and MG's or the classic British cars from even earlier like Morgans and Alvis

Regarding Porsche, my mind always thinks of the 356, 912 and earliest 911 as classic cars, but things like 924, 928 - no way, and as for the 959 well that's just a masterpiece in a class of it's own.

Any car older than 10 years old qualifies for classic car insurance... & I'm very happy with that definition [:D]
