Hi all

After 10 years of 944 ownership I’m trading ’up’ to a 997. It’ll be a shame to see her go, as she’s been a great car. I am keen that she goes to a good home though, so am testing the water here first to see if there are any enthusiasts interested.

146k miles on the clock, having only done 9,000 miles in the 10 years of my ownership. I have had it serviced every year (the latest service being last week) and it also passed its MOT last week with no advisories.

I’ve been advised that £5,500 would be a fair price, so that’s what I’ll let her go for.

The attached photos were all taken earlier this week (25 November)

Additional information:

Location - Flitwick, Bedfordshire
The car is kept in a garage overnight and doesn’t often venture out in the wet.
Serviced annually, initially with RPM (2009-2011), then Auto 2000, Bedford (2012-2017), finally RS Cars, Greenfield (2018-2019)

Additional work carried out in my 10 years of ownership:
2010 - inner sill repair work and respray
2011 - alloy wheel refurb
2012 - 3 point rear seatbelts fitted
2014 - replace rear exhaust silencer
2015 - replace front suspension springs and cam and balance shaft belts
2016 - replace rear brake discs and pads
2017 - replace brake back plates
2018 - refurbish steering rack
2018 - re-tension cam and balance shaft belts, replace radiator
2019 - replace alternator and battery

What would I do if I was keeping the car?

The bodywork is generally very good, but there are a few areas that I would get sorted if I wanted it back to concourse standard, such as the rear number plate light fitting and the inner sills that we’re repaired 9 years ago, but could do with some neatening up (or full replacement of the sills if you are a perfectionist)

Mechanically it is great, runs perfectly and for those that know these cars, it is so well balanced. If I was keeping it, I would replace the belts again in a year’s time, they were re-tensioned 12 months ago and although they were replaced only 4,000 miles ago, it was 5 years ago now.

The main area of focus would be the electricals, the clock doesn’t work (but not many of them do any more), I’ve got the drivers side electric window working again in recent months after having bought replacement switches, but the passenger side is proving more of a problem, the electric mirrors don’t work either at the moment. I’m pretty sure that it’s all down to some wiring gone wrong. When I had it serviced last week they had a look, but advised that it could take a few hours to sort out, so I told them not to. They suggested that the new owner might want to get a replacement drivers side door electrical loom as a starting point.

For the reasons above, I’m not selling this car for £8,000, which is originally what I had hoped to get, but I honestly believe that £5,500 is a very good price for a fantastic car.
The private plate in the photos won’t come with this car, but I have another plate on retention which came with this car when I bought it and which I will put back on it when I sell it. That plate is VJI 8400.

Please message me if you would like any further details.

Stuart

Spring is usually the best time to sell glwts, sold my 997 this year, wonderful things, my Turbo still ticks my boxes [:D]
Had the 997 for 5 years and sold for a profit, not bad going, that said it was truly immaculate with low miles.
