Hi guys,

Going to view a 944 lux tommorow. Do you know where I need to check for the VIN locations on the car?

Thanks

Under the bonnet, on the firewall (where the engine compartment joins the passenger compartment). I think it's on the driver's side of the engine bay, but could be wrong!

All VIN cars have had the number in the same location: high on the firewall/bulkhead to the off side. Before that (<'80) they had a chassis number on the strut tower. The VIN tag will be found on the NS inner wing ahead of the firewall. All 944s will have a VW-type build sticker between the rear lamps and visible when the carpet is unbuttoned (if its missing it has no significance though) and series two 944s have a body serial number too, although youll need to dig for that (but not as much as you do on a 911!).

There is an early 928 in that movie, in the car park of the château. [:)]

No provided the residue is still there, if not then start to look for rear end accident damage/repair, the rear may have been replaced!

Mine is there, but there's a well-documented repair to the rear end early in the car's history by an approved bodyshop including a new rear panel. [8|]

It's a bit of a myth that you should only buy a car with the sticker intact as otherwise it's a cut-and-shut. Along with "fully galvanised body doesn't rust" and "lift-out sunroof is a trouble-free way to enjoy the targa experience". Or, "air-con doesn't work but it only needs a re-gas". [;)]
