944 numberplate for sale

Hi Guys,

Unfortunately my Favorite car has got to go due to a new baby, so I can't really complain.

I have had a look on some sites and have found out my plate could be worth a little bit and thought it would be much more valuable to a fellow 944 driver OR even better someone with an S.

The plate is IIJ 9445, and I'm sure I don't have to tell you it can quite nicely read IIJ 944S.

I'll be looking for offers around £800

Please get in contact if you're interested or know someone who could be.

May I suggest £300 is nearer the mark? 944's are all over 20 years old, many not worth £800!

Ha ha ha ha ha ah ah ooooo it hurts all this side splitting laughter
Best all us 944 owners rush out and sell for £800 while we can[:D][:D][:D][:D][:D]

Thanks for your comments, as helpfull as they are, I will perserveer.

I have already had a valuation already from a registration website of £650 and thats a standard quote.

All I was thinking was this would be a friendly place to advertise to like minded people to whom the plate would be more specific.

Plates are funny things. Proper timeless plates are always worth something, and modern plates that spell out something without stupid spacing or needing to be told what it's meant to say have a value.

The bog-standard Northern Irish plates are very cheap to buy as they are so plentiful. Yours does have a value as it's got a relevant number, my old one had no real value at all. What a plate is worth is, of course, only what someone will pay for it; with only a few 944S models around it's a very limited market, and times are tough so I can't see a fancy plate being top of someone's list of priorities. That offer from the website is very good, and I'd bite their hand off for £650!

If the website is[FONT=Courier New"] buying[FONT=verdana, geneva"] at £650 - sell!

I suspect it is only saying it you sell it through them, you may get £650

I had a similar Irish plate on my cabriolet, ending in 9445. There were absolutely no takers for it, including dealers. I bought an English 944 plate from this very Forum for £150.00. That was over two years ago, and I would think there is even less likelihood of a sale in the current market.
I let the Irish plate go eventually as it was going to keep costing money to retain it.
Don't be fooled by the inflated price. It will go down after a couple of months, and you will then be given the option to pay them to sell it for you.

Your best bet is to leave it on the car. The cost to transfer the plate is more than its worth. Also in my eyes it it looks very close to ILL 944 S and that's the last thing I want my car to be.......

Now if it was SIC 944S that would be well up with the times init - or summit like that homey[:D]

Given that I've got a 944 and my initials are IJ I suppose that i should be the target market for this. But i've gotta confess I just don't get these absurd prices for license plates here. In North America we'd just fill in a form and pay $50 and they'd give us a license plate that says what you want. Here in England people seem to pay ridiculous amounts of money for plates with the most tenuous connections to reality.

Did these people value it at £650 or did they offer £650? Big difference, if they offered it you should take it before they sober up.
