Would anybody know what option code C48 is? Its the 1st code on the paper sticker in my service book, I can't find any information online. The car was 1st registered in Ireland but I would have thought C16 (UK car) would have covered it.

Anybody else with this code or an Irish registered car?

Thanks for that, I had found that list earlier. The only other place I've seen it was on a couple of Silver Rose cars that had their options listed on line. Unfortunately it didn't state what the option was though!

I've never seen C48 before. Might it be a typo, or damaged print?

Thinking Japan or ROW RHD cars, which would have been C18 or C98, both of which do find their way here occasionally.

I've also seen someone ask a similar C46 question in relation to a Celebration 944, as the Silver Rose and Celebration both used studio cloth it could be related to the trim ?

Cheers, Paul

I believe it to be a defunct country code. It is certainly a country code and not an option code. Country codes, like option codes, have evolved over time. Some country codes have been superseded as option codes have been re-used.

Remember that virtually all 'reference sites' that you find on the internet are nothing more than enthusiast sites which have repeated information which they found elsewhere (on the internet) and shouldn't be relied upon for accuracy.

The paint and interior colours aren't option codes: they are listed separately on the sticker. The only options relating to the seat trim would be extended cloth to bolsters, door cards etc.

The pink tartan Silver Rose cloth is different from the grey Studio version, Is Celebration the same as Studio?

just checked and my sticker on the back panel in the boot has C48 as well??

So it's not a Country code, maybe it is a Special Model Code?

My car's a 1988 2.5 944 Lux, a very clean original example but nothing "special" or out of the ordinary. Or perhaps it is......I've only noticed this code due to putting the car up for sale so I may need to renegotiate my selling price!!! [;)]
