944 radio aerial very poor performance ?

Lo all, I think I read somewhere that 944 aeriels are built in to the screen ? is this the case. If so is it normal for the aerials to offer really poor reception , as if not it may just be my stereo or the connection etc. I imagine it may be quite a hassle to fit a new aerial and run ir through the car neatly but may have to go down that route. The 90's Sony radio with changer that came wih the car doesnt really hold a channel.

Luckily the CD changer I discovered in the boot yesterday works fine but I do like my LBC [;)]

Any experience on this would be appreciated.

Cheers Mas

Check the booster. Driver's side of windscreen there's a wire from the bottom corner of the glass that goes into a small black box. Sometimes this connection breaks down, or isn't re-connected after a new screen.

Well forums strike again , the prior owner had put a bit of black tape over the gap between that little plastic cover and the screen and I hadnt looked in to it yet but thought it was a broken windscreen clip ( job for later).

After your reply , I took that cover off and the foil connects to a round black plug that leads to down below ( must be your mentioned booster) I pushed and wiggled that plug a bit and I have got LBC and Heart. I wont know if I now have decent reception or today is just a good reception day until I get the car out and about but windscreen clip it is not [:)] I take it these windscreen aerials are O.K then. Unless of course you have a non-Porsche replacement screen as mine does. I have fitted a genuine Porsche 968 bee sting aerial, I'm sure one from Halfrauds would have been just as good though!!!!!

The booster has a wire going to it.

This is NOT an earth but is a live feed to the booster.

Make sure it isnt broken or trapped and has power.

When working correctly they are superb, better than a coat hanger (and you dont have to ruin the car drilling holes for an aerial)
