Hi there, how do you remove the rear seats and carpets on a 944 s2, it looks as if there is a lot of use of spray adhesive. Why are the rear seats not in the parts lists, all the best John.

The base is glued down as you say. Good question re: parts list, but you don't want to buy a new seat do you?

The rear squab is glued (the later the car the greater the quantity) and clipped along its top edge. Remove the clips with a small chisel and then tease the foam up from the top. Be careful because the vertical carpet between the leading edge of the seat and the floor is attached to flaps of material which form part of the squab. Assuming that you have a one-piece seat back; you remove one 10mm bolt on either side (facing into the cabin; at the hinge point) release the buttons and lift it out. The lod deck carpet isnt fastened in. The boot side carpets extend forward over the wheel arches and are best removed after the rear quarter trim has been removed. The rear cabin carpet is best removed after the seats and centre console have been removed.

Thanks for that, you have confirmed that the carpet flap is attached to the seat squab, someone has tried to pull the seat up on mine and then realised that something was not quite right and pulled the squab slightly from the bias binding that joins the carpet flap to the squab, this is why I mentioned the parts list as it is an easy way to get a basic exploded view, I wonder what people did if they wanted a new rear seat, thanks again John.
