944 Register events for 2005

It is soon to be Autumn, and the stand-in Register Secretary's fancy turns lightly to thoughts of events which we could organise for 2005.

After some serious, shandy-fuelled brainstorming at the Essex Region get together last night, the following *possibilities* have been suggested:

- Get a group of 944 owners into the audience for Top Gear
- A limit handling day at an off-road facility with someone such as John Lyon or Don Palmer
- A weekend away (perhaps something like the very well received Fells and Lakes weekend a few years back)
- 944s at a "Run what yer brung" standing quarter-mile event
- A one day driving-oriented outing covering some interesting A and B roads
- Front-engined event at PCGB HQ
- Attending one of the Porsche race events at Donington or similar
- A repeat of the outing to Hastings
- Clay pigeon shooting
- Gliding experience (a 30 mins trip in a glider)
- Dyno day - ("Ruin what yer brung" if they're too brutal....)
- HGV experience

Any of these could of course be set up to involve another PCGB Register if we think that would add to the fun.

Clearly, I won't be organising all of the above. Some of them may not even be possible - I'd need to look into the HGV experience and gliding options to see what might be possible.

Anyway, would you let me know which of the above are of possible interest so that I can determine which events would be most popular/well attended?

Other ideas are welcome [:)]

All good ideas Nick [:D]

I'm happy to organise another Dyno Day (we could use the same venue or maybe somewhere else), I'll also sort out another Silverstone Formula 1 testing day once next years dates are announced. It's good to get things organised early as we can then publicise it in PP and get some new blood along who don't have access to the modern comms methods we normally use [8D]

I'd like to try and organise another treasure hunt/ day trip to Calais which we never managed to get off the ground this year. I have the contact details of the company that ran the one Martyn and I did back in 2000. It was great fun and only cost about £35 for a car and passengers

Bon Soir Nick

More than happy to co-ordinate The Hastings get together again for 2005.

Hope you are well,

Regards

KEITHSCZ.

Great stuff chaps.

I like the sound of a trip to France, especially at those rates.

Keith's Hastings day was superb and it would be great to do that again.

As mentioned at the meeting Essex Eric can sort the gliding for us, but we need to book a slot faily early if we go with his club.
