Hi, does anyone know where I can buy 944 replacement outer sill skins for my '88 Lux?

I see PorscheShop have them at £170 each + Vat but seems a lot to spend to tidy-up some blistering. Thanks in advance.

Regards,

Derek

Hi Derek,

I had some small blistering on my cills and took it to a garage to get checked out, turned out to be completely rotted. It might be worth getting yours checked out before spending that sort of money.

Most people who have had sills replaced professionally seem to pay about £1,000 a side, so £170 for a sill doesn't sound bad. Mind you if that's Porscheshop then try an OPC as they will likely be cheaper.

I had both cills plated and it cost me £510, if you only have a small amount of blistering it might be worth going down this route?

Best to double check with an OPC, but I am sure I have read or heard that the full cill panel is under £200 which I think is pretty good value as it's fully galvanised. Pattern parts will not be.

Of course you then need to get it fitted and painted [8|]

On a side issue I received a trade circular today from a local body parts supplier which made me wince. Obviously this time of year there are more crunches than usual so they offer special prices for full 'front end' kits comprising: Bonnet, Bumper, both wings and both headlamps. Guess the price for a current Corsa?

£179 []

and its only £99 for an early Corsa. Makes me a bit jealous when I bought one wing for my S2 last year for £350

I bought a pair from porsh - apart at £145 each. They were OE too. They start at 170 but at least simon will haggle a bit...well that and i'm a yorkshireman so paying full price is not something were famous for[;)]

£170 was the price I was quoted by my local OPC ..... and that was with discount! £145 sounds better. Getting them fitted though is a different matter.

One of the body shops I spoke with suggested chopping the sill down to form a lip along the edge of the sill where it meets the bottom edge of the door, so that you limit the area you disturb in fitting the new sill.

Get it done properly though, the sill that was repaired on my ex-car was cunningly disguised with underseal - under the underseal was white silicone sealant to hide a large gap!

Mine were in good order, but needed some repair. cost £100 to weld up, but looked awful. Invested £30 and got some side skirts.

Ive had alook around for a replacement sill for a 2.7 944 that a friend of mine owns; seems to be very little, as per other people Ive only found actual Porsche dealers and porscheshop to stock them.

If anyone finds anywhere that does stock them, please let me know.

p.s. FIRST POST, hello everyone :D
