Hi all

I need to replace my drivers side wiper linkage to my wiper rack (keeps popping off). Does anyone know where I can purchase one from? Ive found the passenger side but not the driver. Id really like new so I'm not in the same boat in 6 months.

Any pointers would be great...

Thanks Tim

Thanks Kong, ill be calling them tomorrow.

Ive looked at the ball, that looks a little worn too. Ive read about people drilling them has anyone had experience of this and is it a long term fix?

A new arm will last for a while before falling off again. The ball and arm will be worn. Best get a new arm, about 7 quid from OPC and then drill through the ball and arm and pop in a split pin or such like. You will never have issues again.

I bought a new arm but it just fell right off so I drilled through with a 3.2mm bit and put a 3mm split pin through with a couple of washers. Works perfectly now.

Thank you every one.

So, just before I go drilling any holes do I drill
  1. Through the bottom of the plastic cup
  2. Up through the the metal ball joint
  3. Then link with a split pin

Yes. But easier to drill down through the ball first and finally through the cup if doing in situ.

Mine had the linkage fitted with the cup end at the motor arm and the open ring end at the wiper arm. I presumed that was how it was meant to go so I put it back that way i.e. No drilling through the cup necessary (assuming that it's the wiper arm end that keeps falling off)

The previous owner of mine had tried to solve the problem using a peeled open beer can supported on a bed of builders expanding foam. Wish I'd taken a photo of it as it was quite a bodge!

If it was me, I would take the whole lot off and clean and lubricate the spindles, they have phosphor bronze bushes in side that have not seen any lubrication in years and years, they might be a bit stiff and will wear the new part far to quickly.

if the motor is a bit noisy then strip that and replace the nose bearing (6000z), nice quiet motor and all free and lubricated parts,
