944 s1 exhaust manifold question

I have a 944s ( ventiler ) with a cracked manifold No2 and 3 cylinder. I need to get a replacement Manifold and just wanted to know if the 3.0 s2 will fit the 2.5 s1 or do I have to buy the s1 specific manifold, hope that makes sense thanks

I'm not familiar with the exhaust manifold on the S1. It can't be that different to the S2 as the exhaust port spacing etc is all the same.

Is it a cast iron manifold or a tubular one as per the turbo/ S2 ?

If its a tubular one you'd be as well taking it to a skilled welder and asking them to take weld it in situ, then remove it and weld it up fully off the car.

Trust me, 2-3hrs of welding n labour will cost a lot less than a replacement manifold or a new one.

The other question you need to consider, is why & where has it cracked ? ie is the engine moving around too much as the engine mount(s) are shot or is the exhaust not supported properly or loose ?

S2 / series two confusion again, which will cause problems if you are buying parts.

The S is S2 is short for Super. The 944 Super was a 2.5l 16v car and the 3.0l car was a Super 2. BOTH of these cars are series two 944s and there is definitely no such thing as an S1. A series one 944 has a 924 derived dash and every car from the 1986 model year onwards, built from September 1985>, is a series two.

The 2.5 16V and the 3.0 16V engines have the same exhaust manifolds. They have the same part numbers in the PET.

I have a complete exhaust manifold from a 3.0 16V if you are interested.
