944 S2 - boot hatch motor arm / cam, where to buy?

Hi all,

I've recently bought a 944 S2 and I'm just working through a few niggles. One I have is with the rear boot hatch motor - the arm / cam that connects the motor to the release cable has snapped in two! Can seem to find the part online, any ideas?

Thanks in advance!

Saw one on eBay this morning doing my morning 968 search - probably the same part on an S2 coupe!

That eBay part doesn't show the cam that fits directly onto the motor spline. When I bought mine about 6 years ago, it was about £6, but when this came up a couple of years back, I checked again with OPC and they were now £40+ [:-][]

They can be repaired with a length of aluminium plate and some araldite. I did this on my one when it snapped just before going on holiday about 3 years ago and it's been fine since. Bake it in the oven (160DegC) while the araldite sets to make it as strong as possible.

Yep Portsmouth OPC wanted £43 +VAT, I purchased a complete motor with the arm attached for £17 on the bay. Still have the motor should anyone need it FOC.

Thanks for advice folks.

It has been repaired and failed again. Will keep an eye out on ebay for a complete motor unit with the arm attached - failing that I'm just going to have to bite the bullet I think!

Found a motor on ebay at the weekend that had the bracket bit that I needed still attached - it arrived yesterday and I fitted the bracket straight away. All fixed for the grand total of £19-60 (and I still have the motor to pop back on eBay should I wish). Happy days [:)]

Bravo, good result.

Thinking about it, this is going to become more and more of a problem as more and more arms break. I know that the 968CS had a manual boot release, with a lever somewhere in the cabin that you pulled to open the boot. Would such a conversion be possible for us 944 owners if/when arms get too expensive and scarce to be affordable?
