Hi guys,
I 've just purchased my first s2 cab from a auction, and i can get the hood to open? I have the key which releases the front but when i push the button nothing happens im i being stupid or is there more to it, Is anyone out there an expert in troubleshooting out electrical faults or had simular problem before or know where i can get help?
so far i have checked all the fuses under the bonnet, and changed the button (with a tested spare).

any help would be great, thanks colin

It only moves with the ignition in position 1 (i.e. no lights, but radio on). Assuming you're doing that the next to try is giving it a little push when you hold the button. I think they have a microswitch to tell the mechanism the hood is hard against the screen header (as in clamped) that locks out the motor. On mine I sometimes had to give it a knock as well as release the clamps to get the motor to go. It was 100% reliable apart from that.

If it isn't either of them then it's more complex, and the hood isn't a good thing to be messing with when you aren't sure what you're doing.

I think you will find there is a relay for the hood motor - might be worth checking out. From memory I think there is also a microswitch behind one of the the rear quarter panel trims. This is set so that when the hood reaches a certain point in closing it stops the motor (you then just pull the hood down down to the top of the windscreen and lock it off). Again it might be worth checking out.

Where are you Colin? Just asking as a nice blue cab has very recently appeared just round the corner from me.....

success!!, Thanks for your help, the hood kicked in straight away after a good push and having the key in the right position.

Really pleased now i can enjoy the wind in my hair!
