944 s2 Injectors

Ok this may seem obvious but I am in the process of a full strip down of the intake manifold/fuel rail and associated hoses etc, for a full clean up, replate or replace exercise. I have had no problem removing the injectors from the rail - clips out then a firm tug and out they popped. However is the removal from the manifold also a firm tug? they seem very firmly seated and im not one to go down the 'bull in a china shop' route, given the costs of a wrong move here. I simply cant see any other way of doing it, but if any wise owls out there can just confirm that this is the method- or not as the case may be I would be grateful for the heads up!

So the rail has been removed but the injectors themselves are still in the engine?

The answer is yes, pull hard [:D]

When i removed mine i left them on the rail to give better purchase, if they havn't been removed for a while they don't want to come out, they're not secured by anything - i think its just the vacuum formed by the rubber seal. They'l come off with a pop, a bit like the spark plug leads.

I think when one of mine came off the fuel rail and ended up like yours, iirc i used a screw driver or something to leverage it about as there isn't much to grip.

Seconded, they 'just' pull out. If they've been in there that long then you might want to think about new seals as they've probably gone hard and that's why you can't get them out.

I sent mine off for cleaning somewhere and that included new seals and pintle caps.


Got them done here £11.50 each including new seals, caps and internal filter things
