944 S2 interior - worth anything?

One of the first things I'll do when I get my 944 S2, is to strip out the interior and fit a full roll cage for track use.

I've seen a couple of photos of the interior (black pin-stripe) and true to the advert's words, it does look rather mint. It'd be a shame to simply chuck it all away, so I am wondering if I can sell the front and rear seats (minus carpets, I'm keeping those for sound-proofing)...and if so, what would be a sensible price to ask for?

Good seats are always wanted. Try an ad in Porsche Post, or on flea-bay. Look around the used-parts suppliers in the faqs to see what they're charging and aim slightly cheaper! [8|]

I sold the front and rear logo seats from mine on ebay a few years ago, I think I got £150 or so for them (I've seen them go for more since, in similar condition). They ended up in an early 924 I believe [:D]

Normal seats, I believe, although I haven't seen the car in the metal yet, so I can't confirm.

£150-200 was the amount in my mind without doing any homework - that'll go quite a long way to pay for the pair of "replacement" bucket seats.

Sounds like my stock seats, they are still sat in the dining room since no one wants cloth seats. Shame because they are really good. One guy came to look at them to fit in his Fiat, he didn't call back. I didn't try ebay though.

I found I had terrible reflections of the rear floor with the rear carpet removed but it is an easy weight saving. Front carpet don't seem to weigh so much so I agree about keeping them in unless one is on an all out weight loss program. The one area that lets through an amazing amount of noise is the rear seat base though if you remove it.

I removed the catalytic converter, stereo system and all speakers, rear wiper and rear seat back and belts. That seemed to chuck out a lot of easy to loose weight and the cat was amazingly heavy feeling (didn't weigh it though). For a track day I will then chuck out tools/compressor/spare wheel/jack and rear carpet.

I am tempted to gut the sunroof, convert the side windows to manual wind, GT front lights and race mirrors (I have a set in a box unfitted because I need to dream up a neat way of fitting them).

Not a problem for me, as my plastic rear window is only semi-see through! I cant see it being polished before the Spring either...

From my initial research, I was told by race-prep specialists that some owners would have the rear carpet put back (either the original, or some matt black material) to keep out the noise and reduce reflection - just as you described.

Not sure how far I want to go with the stripping - I'll want the rear wiper as that's useful. And as my 944 is intended to be a road-legal track car, I'll want some music for when I drive it to and from tracks (I have nothing to tow it with).

The cat will be one of the first things to go, if it's still on there - the car's pre-94 and the environmental problems won't impact my great-grandchildren, so I couldn't give a damn! [;)]

I don't think I ever use my rear wiper (and never missed it on my 924S after I removed it)

What?? []

With all the faded and worn cloth seats out there it's a seller's market! Or, I guess, a slightly less silly but still healthy market.

A set of really good black leather sports seats is still worth £600 plus. Work backwards and a single decent cloth seat is worth more than the "fade to brown and torn bolster" that most of us sit in.

If you really want to offload the seats to gain space then I'll happily drive the van up to you and take them off your hands....[&:]

The only trim in my car currently, is the rear 3/4 carpets (which do little) and the rear seat squab and the noise isnt really an issue. I have a relatively quiet transaxle and torque tube but even so, I dont think that it would be too loud to use. Taking the rear squab out wont make the car any noisier in my experience; its only noticable in a car that is otherwise trimmed.

I am not giving them away for free [:D] but seriously Paul if want to buy them of me for 100 quid complete front and rear including roller blind then yes please!

BTW I bought a black leather interior (sports) in decent condition of here a while back for 250 quid. I guess we are much more tight fisted on these forums then ebay [:D]

Just outside Yeovil in Somerset. You would have a long drive, I reckon 6hrs + from Cumbria and man is it a boring drive nearly all motorway. I used to work for BNFL and did a few trips down here and back up to Warrington, and or to Cumbria.

If they were linen sports pinstripe i would snap your hand off!!!

But they aint so i guess i wont LOL!

But if anyone has any in good nick id be very interested indeed.

I believe that I have sat in this car. The trim is very clean and Id say that the recorded mileage of eighty thousand was correct.
