944 S2 Martime Blue for sale £3000

tono

New member
Hi,

Unfortunately im having to sell my 944 S2 in Maritime Blue. 1992 J Reg
Its done 160k with FSH, lots of receipts Previous MOTS etc...it is very genuine original car.
Mechanically very good, however the body work o/s front/rear lower wing had suffered from corrosion. This has been plated and fabricated on but requires finishing. Something i'll be starting next weekend....

Its has a grey fabric interior which in all fairness is in excellent condition all round...no real wear to speak of.
It also has some 16" Porsche alloys, could be boxter ones (Not sure), professionally re-furbished (inside and out) so they are like new. Discs/Pads and shockers have done hardly any work since being replaced.

Im going to hold out for £3000.

The car is located in shropshire.

If its finished this price will increase....just how much time i have avaliable.

email me on tonoaston@blueyonder.co.uk

Can't seem to download any photos....if anyone can help it would be appreciated.

Thanks

Ohhh, my favourite colour!

I'd agree with Scotty. If it's only a little work to finish it and you think it's going to add value then that's got to be worth it. Lots of pictures to show before and after will reasure buyers that the work has been done properly.

Add dates and mileage of recently done service work to the ad as well. Evidence of things like belts, water pump, clutch, fuel and brake lines etc. all being up to date add tremendously to the saleability of the car.

i think its an auction job now
If by that you mean you're putting it on eBay then I fear you will get hammered on price.

Advice as above; finish the jobs, make the car as presentable as possible, lots of good photos inside and out, and a well-written advert. If you want £3k then hold out for it and see what interest you get.

An untrendy old Porsche on eBay, with some work needed, will always sell for a dismal price.

Oli.

Thanks. I've sold more cars than I care to mention over the years, please don't state the obvious...im not retarded. It's is an old car in need of some work, 3k Is not alot of money, if it is to you then buying a 18 yearold car and expecting it showroom fresh is somewhat unrealistic. They are afterall a very simple car to work on, and parts generally plentifull....
Buyers should satisfy themselves as to the cars condition, a grammatically correct life story doesn't always mean the cars a beauty at the end of it.

Perhaps not, but you are ignorant. If you want to speak to people like that clear off to Pistonheads.

Hi pal it does seem a lot of S2 for 3k and is a great colour too . When you are dealing with an old S2 with 160K on the clock loads of rust every where that needs sorting out then it does not seem that good a deal ! Like most users have already stated the obvious and you your self know , people want the car looking have right and do not really want to know they have to spent minimum £500-£1000 to sort out the cosmetics before they even start ! If the S2 had a lower mileage then this would not really put me off , but as the engine may soon need an overhaul and possible gearbox and clutch may need attension due to the high mileage , then maybe 3K is a lot for the S2 but must say I do like that colour ! Best of luck with your sale J.C

3k Is not alot of money,

In the current market it is pretty much top money for an S2 in really good condition. With at least some recent service work done to major items like clutch, belts and water pump etc. A car will need a very well-worded advert, and not have obvious problems, at that price. For the sake of a bit of paint it seems a shame to have it advertised with a half-finished repair.

Not trying to patronise you, just that over the many years this forum has been going, with about a thousand 944 owners and previous owners here, and over 10000 users who know a lot about Porsches and the market in general, you might get good advice. Up to you if you don't take it, but please don't have a go at people for pointing something out to you. [;)]

Interesting. Not sure if interpretations are the same of "really good" but even in this market I'd still expect a really good 'un to go for more than this - in fact nearer £4k or more. Seriously, I have an '92 S2 but if I could get a "really good" one for £3k I'd be tempted to buy a second one!

I'm in Scotland so maybe less to chose from but I'd certainly think long and hard about buying another (late plate) one at £3k with clutch, w pump, belts etc all done for me. I'm not disrespecting or challenging your view, just expressing surprise.

Well that's a retarded reply to helpful suggestions.

I wouldn't buy a car off you based on that reply alone.

Good luck[8D]

hiya tono, good luck with your sale but why do you feel the need to be stroppy and arrogant when people are trying to offer you support? makes no sense! jason p

I'm not being stroppy with anyone, I'm just advertising my car...but so called experts feel obliged to give me advice I didn't ask for. If I'd have asked for it I could understand, but they keep on and on and on..

Yes, for free on a forum for which many members have been paying for for years! That does give them the right to comment, at least equal to your right to a free advert.

I keep reading the title of this thread as Marmite Blue ! [&:]

Isn't that a feature of the way our brain works, i.e. if the first and last letter are correct then even if those in between are jumbled we still read the correct word. In the thread title Maritime is missing an 'i', so your brain un-jumbles to make marmite. [&:][:)]
