944 S2 Motor required

Hello all,
I have a project on the shelf that I require a stock S2 motor for, i've been looking loosely for a while - I'm in no rush, but on the off chance someone has or knows of a good one that is priced sensibly I may well be interested. Usual stuff really, not fazed if good proveable history can be supplied alongside a slightly higher mileage although would clearly prefer lower mileage if backed up by paperwork. Recipient will be a '91 Cab.

Good forum... keep it up!

I have one in my garage now , the car is a total loss but im waiting for the insurance company to finalise things and then it will be stripped out. PM me to keep up to date.

Steve.

Nooooooooooooooo []

Not your beautiful black S2, please tell me the engine in question is from another vehicle

Paul i would like to say you right but im sorry to say not this time mate... A slight accident on a roundabout put the car backwards into signpost while taking the nsr quater panel out with a lamppost...insurance are saying it has 6K worth of damage so looks like its come to the end of its road, I was thinking of putting the car up for sale in the summer but i didnt want to see it go like this, not after all the money and man hours i put into it...so Keep your eyes peeled chaps as im sure once the insurance has settled then i will be posting a few parts in the for sale section.... Anyhow if i see a nice one i may be tempted by a turbo next time ....

Bu99er. Another S2 stalward bites the dust.

Dark side beckons, eh? Keep it in the family - I'll be interested to hear your observations.

Its always disappointing when a genuinely good car is condemned by an unenthusiastic insurer. I understand why the cars are constructively written off, but surely its worth while repairing them and negotiating their not being recorded?

Sorry to hear that Steve, I always admired your work with the brake ducts/cage/seats on your S2. Good luck with the insurance company.

That's really bad news Steve. Yours was a genuinely special car, a real looker with the subtle changes you'd made

Hang on chaps, sorry to be slow on the uptake but was Steve's S2 the black one with the indicators turned into sidelights as well as indicators, and the ducts in the front bumper to cool the brakes?

If so, that is a real loss. I'm very sorry to hear it. Steve, it was a pleasure talking to you at Frontrunner last year (only time I have met you) and I hope that things come off OK with the insurance company. Is there no way that the car would get back on the road? The number of GOOD 944's is dwindling, and to lose one such as this from the collection is a loss indeed.

Yep, and the great black-on-black decals. Fantastic car.

I'm guessing from the fact that Steve hasn't been on the phone asking for help with the insurers that it really is beyond economical repair. I've had some success with insurers, they are prepared to negotiate cheaper repair routes in some cases but a rear 3/4 isn't going to be cheap. []

The insurers are also very open to negotiation over values. I've had some pretty fair settlements even when members haven't had an agreed value, although of course that makes it a hell of a lot easier. Yet again, I'll remind you that insurance valuations are free!

Thanks for the kind words guys.... The insurance company is being a little slow but i guess thats the norm. depending on the salvage value i could buy it back and repaire it and i wouldnt realy have a problem with it being marked as cat(?) as i would keep the car anyhow but as i was planing on selling the car later in the year anyway i might just take the money and run, if they offer me enough that is ! if not then i might be buying a welder and some filler and repairing the car myself with a little help from my friends :0
