944 S2 rear blind

Does any one know where a good place is to source one of these? I know they are different to the ones fitted to the Lux's, I believe it attaches to the glass hatch and lifts with the hatch and has a couple of pockets fitted to it on the back of the rear seats.

Also how does it attach to the seats, there are no signs of connectors on mine as if its never had one fitted, was it an option when new?

Thanks

Nick,

If your car has split rear seats, the rear blind is fixed on a elasticated cord that runs from the C pillars (not the rear seats) it clips into the pillar by means of circular plastic socket. As you said clips onto the hatch, again by means of hooks and elasticated cord.

My s2 rear seat was one section and the rear blind was on the back of the seat, this then pulled out and clipped to the two hooks at the rear by the pin release... I would try all the porsche breakers with porsche-a-part at the top of the list !

yep mine is the same. fixed to the back of the one-piece rear seat and pulls out to clip onto the top of the rear light valance either side or the hatch lock.
I thought it was only the cabriolet and 968 that had split rear seats apart from special orders.
If you have a single rear seat then any 944 lux blind should fit

My S2 certainly has split rear seats and the blind is as Peter describes.

From the cars I've seen, it seems the late S2s (maybe all of the bridge spoiler models) all have the split rear seats.

Mine also has split rear seats & the circular sockets at the sides. But unfortunately no blind [:(]

Cheers,
Robbo

I have the blind but it's horrible. All faded in the sun, covered in marks, and the elastic sags.

I leave it out at the moment, but I'm going to fix it or get a new one made using the original as a template.

Yes mine has the split rear seats, do you know anyone that makes them? Southbound perhaps?

Bulk buy anyone?![:D]

I have one piece rear seat backrest and no sign of a blind having been fitted though...[&o]

I'm not sure if anybody makes them but I've heard Southbound recommended before in relation to recreating them.

It looks a fairly simple device, and the place I'm using for bodywork does interior work/upholstery too so I'm going to take it with me when I drop my car off to get an opinion.

I'll update this thread when I get a result.

I have talked to the trimmer I use about making new blinds and he has said no problem. I just have not pusued it as
I don't need one. ( He is far cheaper than Southbound and IMO just as every bit as good)

Nik, I have a rolar blind in good condition that just needs fitting if you are interested?

What's a shame is that there are parts like this in lofts all over the country. We've always taken the blinds out of our estates to fit dog guards, and have been known to forget this at sale time. We've also got the un-used roof-bars with the current Legacy, that will probably be in our loft in 20 years time.

At first e-bay seemed to bring this sort of thing to the open market, but I fear that it has got so full of cr*p that it's hardly worth the bother.
