Just had a quick scan of the price lists there! if anyone can resize them feel free - I think they are a bit big!

Enjoy the read!!!!

cheers for that pete, i wasnt aware my car had so many options that i thought were just standard, a real eye opener, the original bill of sale puts my car a tad over 40k in 1990 and thats not including vat, after reading your post i now understand why!! thanks jason p

That's really interesting to read - many thanks [:)]

Anyone any idea what a 30mm steering wheel hub extension was all about ?????

Almost everything was an option to start with, but even in 1990 most things were 'options'. Ive used inverted commas because PCGB insisted that a number of things were specified, the sunroof was one from memory.

Hmmm, mine is around £40k with options (Leather interior (doorcards and rear seats), fully electric and heated seat, tinted top of windscreen, metallic paint)).

But the extras put on later on aren't cheap (Club Sport Mirrors, Cup 4 Wheels)

most cars with leather only have leather facings - front seats - think I can see why!

Thanks for sharing,
Tony

I dont think that Ive ever seen leather rears and the only completely leather seats Ive seen have originated from 911s...

My fronts are full leather. I'm wondering if they're original as they are in remarkable condition. Unless the mileage was clocked forward...[&:]

I suppose the previous owners might have been small, light and always dressed in soft fabrics, but must look at the options on it.

I have seen one with leather rear to the fronts, leather rear seats and IIRC leather door cards, was a while ago though, I think at one of the lakes events,

Cripes, that puts my car up past £47k when originally specced.

I have leather seats all round, but not the door cards etc.

'Full leather' is usually leather facings, vinyl backs and sides and vinyl rear sears. A proper all leather trimmed car has leather door card trim too, as described by Tony above, but theyre ever so rare.

Paul: I guess that its not original leather. Leather seats have always been a popular upgrade for owners. Then as now, you could sell every good set of leather seats five times over. This used to make the vinyl rears to match valuable too, hence the number of cars without matching rear seats (although they can be bought pretty easily for about £50 a set now).

Aye, what he said. ^^

I think my seats are original, because I checked the option codes on the wee sticker in the boot. If not, then they've been replaced like for like.

Was it really an extra thousand quid just for the leather door cards, or was there more to it? Dash sections, maybe?

If it is genuine leather, then it does make quite a difference. Quite a few manufacturers use a Vinyl substitute these days.

Where abouts in the boot is this sticker? I've not looked for it but can't pop out to the car right now. :)

Under the carpet between the rear lamps. A copy of the same sticker should have been stuck onto the first page of your service book too.

Sorry to drag up a slightly old thread, but as the most recent owner of Paul's titanium S2 car I cam clarify that I had no tendancy to dress in soft fabrics! Someone did try and convince me they were the seats from a Boxster, but since he was working on my car at the time, I didnt feel it appropriate to correct him!
