After 15 years I need a new roof for my 944.

Porsche Shop do them @ 650 which seems high but if it last another 15 , great. Anyone experience of their hoods and / or an alternative that is just as good.

Thanks

Dave

Try Jack Smith in Swansea. Theyre legends in the MX-5 world, offering replacements and brilliant prices. They wont have one ready to go of course, but could certainly pattern your existing roof.

Where are you based?

For most old classics (including my Stag) mohair roofs are around £300-450 unfitted, with most wanting another £200 on top assuming everything goes well when fitting it. There is a chap local to me who fitted my roof at quite a competitive price if you would like his details (he is in Bulkington, Warwickshire).

On the basis of who the supplier is I would be tempted to ask reputable hood trimmers what they charge (Don's Hoods in the Midlands is one avenue worth pursuing) in addition to even OPC dare I say it (I expect their price (if they can provide a hood) to be one of two types of prices (I.e mega expensive or in line the rest).

I think Papamantra might have seen my new hood at a 968 meet but then again there could be more 968's in that colour. Anyway car hood warehouse chessington right opposite the world of adventure. it's an all day job on the 944 and it is one of a small lisy of cars that they do not do offsite. Start 07:35 finish at 14:50, not stopping for any significant lunch break, last june it was £975 fitted. Mate it is so fantastic being able to see out of the rear window.
