944 starter motor

I need to get round to buying a starter motor for the Turbo. Two questions:

  • I assume there's a specific motor needed for this car as opposed to the NA?
  • While trawling the sites I think I've seen two options listed for the Turbo - separate parts for the 220 and 250. The latter seems to generate more oomph, so does this mean it would be a beneficial replacement on my car or is it physically different too?
Thanks,
Dan

I don't know in this case, but normally if a later part can be used to replace an earlier one Porsche supercede the earlier one and it becomes unavailable. If the earlier starter is still around that suggests they are not interchangeable.

Academinc anyway as you'd be much cheaper getting a reconditioned one and for that you'll need your old motor for exchange and it will be like for like.

If you still have your original Jon Mitchell (01202 462951) can get it refurbished. He did mine and it was problem free afterwards.

Remanufactured chris!... tut refurbed indeed! lol

Refurbished = Wiped with a rag and any fault repaired...maybe.

Reconditioned = wiped with a rag, bead blasted, painted and fault repaired...probably

Remanufactured = Stripped down, everything thrown away apart from the castings/housings, everything else replaced, including even the windings, slip rings, brushes, armature, solonoid, bushes, terminals... everything replaced, excepts housings which are plated/painted.

exchange = could well be any of the above!
