944 starting problems, again (sorry)

I'm having similar start-up problems to the earlier posts by Paul but I don't think its my DME relay since I've got two and it doesn't start with either. (I've printed off all the details about testing the relays which I will do tonight)

I am used to having issues with it not wanting to start whilst hot, but I am now having problems starting from cold, its turning over but not firing at all.

Last night it fired up, but then almost immediately died and the night before it failed to start at all. If it had done this before when the engine was cold, which it was on both occasions, then it would fire on the second attempt, but not now.

If we put aside for a moment that it may not be the relay, what else could it be?

As I've said it turns over, all the electrics are fine (the voltmeter reads 12v approx), and yessss it has a full tank [;)]

Thanks

Spence

Cars details,

944 Lux, first bought in April 1984, so she's no spring chicken.........

This happened to me a few years ago. I was not getting spark across plugs. Replaced Rotor Arm and Distributor Cap and ok then.

Try all ignition parts, HT leads, coil, dis cap and rotor as John said and air metre sensor.
