944 stone chip guards

im in the process of restoring my 944 lux... spent more than i care to mention having inner and outer sills done two front wings repaird and a hole in the rear panel and im going to get a full respray

my question is are the stone chip guards under or on top of the paint and witch ones are the right ones to get

i bought these but not sure they will look right

My '91 S2 has clear stone guards ON TOP of the paint (if the guards are under the paint - the paint chips before the stone guards are hit [] ). I believe OPC has them still or I'm sure others here will point out their sources.

The black ones are for a white car, all the other colours are have clear guards like these:

They definitely go on top of the paint

Originally, white cars had white stone guards, any other colour cars had clear, still available from main dealers and the best quality TBH.
