I cannot believe how many people phoned! My phone went crazy from 5mins after the add was submitted to 12.45 at night! In the end I had to cap the price at £2000 and turn down better offers (which was hard) just to stop the phone ringing and to avoid 10 people turning up at the same time. Even then 2 chaps turned up which was akward!

To be honest I think someone got a bargain, it was not a minter but it was not a dirtbag either. It had several different shades or red paint but I think a damned good mopping and some selected re-spraying would have evened it up and the rust that I saw was indeed minor and could be remedied reasonably cheaply.
I presume this means you need the money to pay for an imminent re-arrival, in glossy black paintwork and with that infamous bonnet scoop [] C'mon spill the beans..........

p.s. sorry Paul whilst Jon assures me that plans are in motion to get me car back in the very near future its a different black shiney thing on my driveway at the moment. I had to get a 5 seater for work so I'm now the proud owner of a black metalic R32 golf. It's sluggish and boring as hell but the sound!!! WOW! I will pop over and show you some time soon. Its a lovely feeling buying a brand new car though, no problems, 8miles old and at least 2-3weeks before it needs a new set of brakes and tires[][] I might have to bring it to a trackday with you guys... especially if it rains[]

Or perhaps not. [8|]
I've got to agree with you on the selling cars bit. I hate selling cars - I haven't sold many (because I keep them for years and years) but it is never something I have enjoyed. It is frustrating when you don't get any takers and people are often irritating when you do. It seems it doesn't matter how cheap the car is people still seem to want to nit pick.

Spooky; I was just looking at R32s this very morning as a sort of semi-serious daily drive consideration. It would be the original R32 for me though as I don't like the looks of the new one so much. I still love the hearse to bits, but I want to take something nice and German to NZ with me if we move and I think the hearse might be a bit to miley for the market when the time comes to sell it on. Also diesel isn't a big thing for saloons there.

Have you checked the import regs for NZ, I rember that there is something about age, we went to a museum in Christchurch and they had a BM in there because it had been imported and was not old enought
It's because I don't want to have to drive Japanese that I'm looking at exporting a daily driver. Interestingly the NZ Autotrader seems to suggest it may not be (financially) worth taking the 964, especially as it has no air-con. The 944 simply has to go.
(sorry, you can have your thread back now!)
