944 turbo aircon compressor

Has anyone found a decent replacement please? Best I've found is a Denso recon unit from euro car parts for around £275 after discount. Any other options for replacing one of these?

Mine is knackered so was first considering deleting it, however would be great if I could get system working again. Had it regassed a while ago and it held vacuum etc but they reckoned the compressor was finished. Now it's making horrible noises so needs replacing or removing.

Anyone done this recently? Ideally i'd like to just take it somewhere and have them fit a new unit and regas etc.

Thanks
Craig

£275 for a recon Denso is quite good. They can be had new in the states for around £350 although you need to factor in delivery and customs charges. Ken went down this road although he picked his up whilst over there. It's not a big job. You'll need 8 O-rings and a new receiver/dryer which is not expensive and some ester oil. There are 4 o-rings under the adapter plate and 2 more for the pipe ends needing removed. 2 more for connecting the new receiver/dryer. Get it vacced out and tested to see all is well then add in about 10mm of ester oil and then you can fill with R134a and all should be well.

Had this exact thing done courtesy of Promax a couple of weeks ago, car was only with them for a short time and now the aircon is working spot on.

They replaced the compressor, plus various seals and oil to allow useage of modern gas. Worth giving them a call if they are within a reasonable distance to you.

I have the Denso compressor from Euro car parts, I also have a drier from them too, both bought for me by my son as he has a trade account. They were fitted 14 months ago with new R134a seals, the system was oiled and then re-gassed for me by my son and has been working as good as new ever since...ok we don't get many days where the UK weather requires A/C but of late I have been using A/C quite a lot..having had no A/C for some time before I don't want to be without it again..

Excellent! Pete, do you have the details of the drier? Can't seem to find it on ecp website.

I'll ask my son for the details...no answer from his phone right now so I guess he's busy under a car or something....I'm pretty sure it came from ECP, perhaps a special...I'll find out..

Pete

EDIT:
no sooner had I put the phone down my son called back..lol ...yes receiver/drier definitely came from ECP...he can't remember the part number but he did have to ask his contact at ECP to source it for him, best talk to them direct...cheers

Another satisfied ECP refurbed user. Got mine in 2008, though Teamec of Holland were the refurbisher. Cost was £250.

Got one supplied and fitted by local garage (ECP Supplied and then they fitted it) About £450 all in with the regas etc and the aircon is great now. Sadly the chirping noise is still there so I suspect alternator bearings. It increases when you turn aircon on but I think that is just the extra load on the belt. Also increases when you pop up headlights.

Anyway, the compressor needed doing and it is working well... Hopefully sort the noise soon.
