944 Turbo as Daily Hack

Ive just annoyed the green party no end... I had a choice either get the Focus van serviced and put new brakes on it or put 6 months tax on the 944.... Well I done the latter and it feels absolutely brilliant. I drove down here to Galway yesterday and time just flew... I smiled the whole road and this morning I'm in top form....[:D]

Fuel consumption is not that bad either.. I filled it in Letterkenny and again in Galway and she returned 34.5 mpg... [;)]

Have you noticed that every second car is either a navy Avensis or a silver Primera ? I got some looks going down the road... Especially from some random Dolce and Gabanna sunglasses wearing diva... Pity she couldnt keep up the facade - She was driving a Hyundai Coupe.... [:D][:D]

Its all down to you lads for if it was left to me the car would still be in the shed and I would be making excuses .... ...

Does anyone on here run a Turbo as a daily driver.... ?

I used to and it never let me down and felt all the better for regular use. I had an 80 mile round trip mostly dual carriageway and motorway and at a fast but steady cruise speed you could easily get well over 400 miles to the tank

not a turbo but I regulary use my S2 for 130 mile daily commutes on both motorways and country roads. Its a fantastic way to get to work and come home again.

I have often done the sums and thought about the money I'd save by running a diesel Mondeo or whatever so I do use one but time and time again I realise that the difference in driving pleasure is worth every penny extra using the 944 as a daily driver

Hi i,ve used my last 3 944s as daily driver 2 2.5s now got the s2 which i think is better on fuel than the 2.5 and more fun[:)]

My S2 will be my daily driver as soon as it's 'finished' (inverted commas as I realise finished is a fluid concept).

I'm looking forward to it, the fact I get better economy on a motorway drive from my S2 than my MX-5 is an added bonus too as about 60 miles of my commute is on the motorway.

My 944T is my daily driver. Admittedly I don't drive all that much, because I live and work in the city centre.

I wouldn't buy a "˜normal' car. I don't need a car at all, so my only reason for owning one is for fun "¦

S2 Daily Driver here also ... around 41 miles/day rount trip to the current major client site, and it brightens my morning (and evening) no end.

Only snag is that the roads could be better - North Circular and then miserable local traffic. Still, as Paul has said, it does run much better for regular use.

I have sinned by not driving it enough in the past .... The 170 miles I drove yesterday definately made a good difference to her.. The petrol is cheaper than diesel at the minute as well..... Its all good and I cant stop smiling..... My Focus definately dosent press the buttons the Porsche does.... [;)]

I am going to make use of the €498 I gave Brian Cowen for 6 months tax .. []

Using my S2 as my daily too, since I sold my FTO a couple of months back. It seems to get better & better with regular use, apart from the knackered exhaust. But just bought a Dansk SS exhaust & decat box from Promax, so they'll be going on next week [:D]

Cheers,
Robbo

Both my turbos see daily usage they are great practical cars,i must say when the roads are salty i wince a bit and try to avoid using them- as i want them to see me out(which i am sure they will!)(unless i stuff one/both of them!)[:D]

Both my turbos ...
Ladies and Gentlemen, can we just stop and savour this moment a little ...

Both my turbos .... that's BOTH of them ...

What's better than a 944 turbo? Well, two of them, of course!

(Some of us are pretty happy to be tooling around in an S2!)

Is that both turbos on the same car?

I use my S2 pretty much every day, and have typically covered up to 30k miles per annum in a 944 of some description for about 8 years... The turbo was fun but scary at times and a bit more work, the N/A was cheap and easy, but I think there is good reason why so many seem to be using the S2 every day. All improve for the driving. servicing is easier too if parts are worn out and replaced regularly.

Regards,

Tref.

I've been using my S2 for over 12 years as an everyday car. Now it has reached the point where it has PLENTY of worn out parts "servicing is easier too if parts are worn out and replaced regularly. "

I guess its due an "expensive birthday" as I've heard folk say.

Mine goes through periods of being in daily use travelling the country and not I have covered 25K in one year and it has just been resting for 6 months with no MOT. It is now back in daily use again and getting better everyday. It has covered over 180k miles now and needs somebodywork attention, more through neglect than anything else. I missed it but worry about my licence with c350bhp and a tendancy to use it.

Use mine as daily driver, similar roads too - Enniskillen - Dublin Express - Black 944T.

Best mpg about 28 on BP Ultimate. On Texaco Premium which is next best I found and filling up in Monaghan, I get 28 and 20% off which is the equivalent 33mpg. (all this is on a 100 mile trip, with occasional boost needle exercises in 3rd & 4th [8|])
