944 turbo help

ok, i've got an '87 944 turbo, nearly everytime i put my foot down all i can hear is a massive air rush and my performance has been seriously affected. I've checked all the hoses going to and from the turbo and they all seem connected and in good condition. Am thinking this could be a problem with the spring weakening on the waste gate. Any body else have any ideas on what this could be??[FONT=verdana,geneva"]
 
If you're getting very low boost, accompanied by a 'whooshing' sound, it's possible that one of the rubber connecting hoses between the intercooler and hard pipes has split - just where you can't see it. Have a good feel around the circumfrence. Easy to do as they're at the front of the engine bay near the headlamp swing bar.

Check the idle adjustnet screw on top of the throttle body is still there. Mine (and others) has wound itself all the way out and the resultant leak is pretty noisy, robs you of boost and makes a nice star shaped oil stain on the underside of the bonnet.
