944 turbo in the car mags

Has anyone else noticed the 944 turbo getting a mention in a couple of the monthly car mags recently?

Latest one is in this month's new Performance Car mag (the one with the Mitsiboshi Evo [;)] on the front) and there is a half page towards the back talking about what a lot of car the 944t (220hp model) is for £5k and how good to drive etc.

That is the second such glowing report I've read in the last 2 months - first one was in one of the dedicated Porsche mags, which compared early Boxter with a 220 944t and a 3.0l SC 911, all for around the same money supposedly - they chose the 944 too[:D]

Of course, I'm sure it could just have easily have been an S2 as opposed to the turbo version.....whistles quietly and hopes Oli is not reading this!![:D][:D][:D]

The point of course, is that this sort of press, coupled with the recent 'rebirth' of all things '80s' thanks to shows such as Ashes to Ashes ("fire up the Quattro") can do no harm at all to the desirablity & potential value of our cars.

Or am I just kidding myself?[8|][:D]

I've noticed that quite a lot recently too the 944 turbo is getting a lot of glowing praise from various magazines all good if you ask me anyway.

There was an article in the US Porsche magazine "Excellence" a couple of issues ago where the prices for 944 cars were creeping up. Mind you, they won;t be able to get loans for them over there at the moment will they? [;)]

The recent issue of Octane has a piece on 80's cars and gives the 44t a nod. Also the 80's seem to be the in thing at the moment. It was only a matter of time till the mags cottoned on to the fact that you can go out and buy one of the greatest drivers cars of the 80's for the price of a fiesta.

When I took my dad out in mine, he couldnt get enough as it took him back to when he had his, he went straight to the car mags and started looking with real intent at getting one himself again. He probably is not the only one..
