Had a guy on the phone me a few nights ago looking for a good 944 Turbo for the Wheeler Dealer show that is on Sky. Do not to much information but is emailing me with more this week.
They have a 1986 944 in Grey. So looking for a car that is NOT Grey. The show is filmed in Halifax I believe. If you watch the show they like to have a finished car to look at. Not sure if they will be driving it but will ask that question later.
Please let me know asap with a few details and possibly a picture or two, please email me direct on john.oakes3@btinternet.com
I will post more information when I find out more.

Regards
John Oakes

I think Paul Mc the 944 reg sec is already across this, isn't he?
Just make sure he finds them a proper RWD one. None of that FWD rubbish.

Oli.

Sorry Paul. Cheap shot I know, but I couldn't resist!

Paul, do they not want to borrow Oli's S2 for some of the slower tracking shots as the cameraman might struggle to keep up with the Turbos on this forum...?![;)][:D]

Runs and hides somewhere dark [8D]

Hi Paul,

Have you sorted out a car for this show already. please find below email from Tim regarding the show.

Attaboy TV are looking for a perfect example of a Porsche 944 Turbo, to feature in a brief sequence of their new series of Wheeler Dealers.

One of the cars featured on the programme this year will be a Porsche 944 Turbo, in Grey, circa 1987, so we're looking for a similar car, of roughly the same age (give or take a couple of years) and in perfect order, mechanical and cosmetic but not in Grey.

The sequence should last aproximately 1 minute and will take about half a day to film. We hope to start filming these sequences later in February.
We are based in Dean Clough in Halifax and would like to keep shooting as local as possible. We have been looking at locations between Harewood and Bolton Abbey.

Unfortunately, as we are working to a tight budget, we cannot offer any fee for this but we will cover any petrol expenses and provide a DVD copy of the programme - and whoever gets involved will get to see thier car on TV.

If you can help us to find such a car, we would be most grateful.
Thanks for your time.
Tim Peck

Hi John,

I've been liaising with Dan over this, but not yet been asked to find the "perfect" car.

I've agreed that we'll give a free year's membership to the buyer of the show car, offer advice with the show and provide a demo car for the before and after shots. I'm waiting for Dan to get back to me, but if you can help to get our offer of help through to them then do all you can! I'll send a reminder mail tonight. [:)]

"[ a perfect example of a Porsche 944 Turbo,]"... Now that might be a tall order...Especially in grey.????[;)][;)] Most of them have been "track rat prepped "....[;)][:D][;)][:D][;)][:D]

surely Simon Peckham's is the car to use? - you never know, it might find him a buyer [:D]

Oooh good idea - have you ever been up to Halifax Simon?

I bet the roads are well salted today [;)]

Have to say, this sort of request always slightly annoys me. Essentially, they (as a commercial enterprise) are looking to capitalise on someone else's good will and pride in their car, to make a TV program that will make a profit. The person who 'gives' their car for this will have to take a day off work (=no pay if you are self-employed, or a day's holiday for the rest), stump up the cost of any repairs and wear and tear, spend a day moving their car around to please the director, and be paid with a DVD which they could record for themselves when the program is aired.

Added to that, I've heard too many horror stories about cars being damaged while filming and such 'expenses' not being paid without repeated nagging of the production company to make me want to steer very clear of such an exercise.

Thankfully, having a 'slow' (or was that 'pants'?) S2 disqualifies from volunteering! Still, I hope that's a very dark place you are hiding ... I'm thinking some brighter headlight bulbs may help in finding you ...

+1. Cheeky sods, I reckon. "The owner gets to see thier [sic] car on the telly." Whoopee do.

It might be worth contacting Mac and Sue on the display register thread - they have a list of cars whose owners are potentially willing to display etc. See here: http://www.porscheclubgbforum.com/tm.asp?m=417832

I hadn't given it much thought, but I do tend to agree with Oli having read his post. Something which makes it all the more obvious why so many feature cars appear in the for sale section in magazines - it's a worthwhile way to advertise your car for free if you want to sell it.
