There's a thread on TIPEC re this car. As well as being a restoration project, it's also an insurance write off and the Ebay photos paint it in a very presentable light. The paintwork is actually very poor and there's the usual bottom of wing/sill rot. (Thanks to Totty for supplying some photos of his aborted purchase).

Buyer beware.

Interesting warning, thanks.

The panel match on that front end is shocking. If that is a guide to the rest of the paintwork then anyone approaching it should do so with utmost care ...

Oli.

Didnt it recently 'sell' on eBay for £2,000+? I think that Alasdair has bought better looking cars for around £750.

Yip, sold a couple of weeks ago for £2750 and the buyer (Totty) didn't proceed when he went to collect and was able to see the car in it's "full glory". May still be a good purchase for someone and something BUT probably not at that kind of money!

It has also been photographed soaking wet, you can see where it has started drying, obviously to make the paintwork look better....

£1750 this morning.

Bidding seems quite rapid at such an early stage , suspect a few mates in there helping it along!

I am always suspicious now that bidders identities are protected, it was much more interesting when you could see who you were bidding against. It was also harder for this type of bidding up the price to happen.

£2250 with some last minute bids... Hopefully sold to someone who won't get a surprise when they go to collect (with a trailer in view of those old aged belts!!).

Indeed. Or a shock when the lovely deep red shine of a wet car turns out to be a pale dusty pink in places. [&o]

I have been in touch with Totty (Paul) for the last few months re purchasing a turbo, this particular car has been stood on a driveway for 6 years in Blyth Northumberland (on the coast) It has been exposed to 6 years of nice salty sea air, the guy who is selling has a bodyshop, check the pics, he says he has no time to do it.
Methinks he has had a good look at it and bailed out.
Best thing is i put Paul on to a completely mint car both bodily and mechanicaly known to me but he was not keen on Red, he had a rush of blood and bid on this one eventually, the red car up here sold within a week for the asking price, it was 100% bang on and i actually thought that it went too cheap.
Paul may have got one down in London, deposit left.
