944 Turbo - throttle return spring rubbing on throttle inlet hose - normal?

Hi,

I think I know the answer to this one, but before I attempt to undo and realign the various hoses and hard pipes that might allow me to get the clearance, I wanted to ask if your 951 has the clearance.

When the throttle is about 3/4 open the cam that the return spring is attached to rises to rotates to the point where the return spring contacts the large hose on the inlet side of the throttle body.

Oh and one more question: does your throttle cam hit the hard stop on the throttle body when you go to full throttle, or does it stop just short to prevent the cable being stretched?

Thanks in advance

Paul

I've just put new seals in the throttle body, I don't remember the spring touching anything. The linkage, spindle and its spring do have to go back together correctly though.

Paul it shouldn't be catching on anything, I cant answer your second question though.

Blade7 was it a seal kit you bought somewhere or did you order the parts from OPC?

I don't know why kit Blade7 used but I used the Arnnworx one and it was spot on.

Thanks everyone, I pulled the throttle inlet hose and rotated it until I found which side overhung the throttle body the least. The hose had become misshapen over the years. Now reassembled I have about 1mm of clearance between the hose and the return spring. Not a lot, but I think a new hose would be needed if I wanted more clearance. I'll keep an eye on it.

Any observations on my second question:does your throttle cam hit the hard stop on the throttle body when you go to full throttle, or does it stop just short to prevent the cable being stretched?

blade7, yes there is a plastic bolt beneath the accel pedal to limit its travel, you can easily adjust it with an open ended spanner.

I've changed the accel cable recently and the old one had stretched. I plan to adjust the cable to get the throttle to the correct position for wide open (hence me last question). Then adjust the floor mounted bolt to stop the pedal from advancing the throttle past the correct wide open position.

Thanks but I don't see the mention. Perhaps it's a PCGB member-only thing?
