944 Turbo wheels

I want to get the wheels on my 89 944 turbo refurbished.Anyone know what the correct finish for the wheels should be.They are the standard forged alloys.
Thanks,
Andrew

You don't see it very often these days but the correct finish for the Forged alloys is anodized alloy with a clear lacquer over the top. This is very expensive, which is why most will simply be painted with a standard Felgensilber wheel silver that most modern German wheels are finished in.

*cough*

A VERY fussy friend of mine kerbed his BMW M3 convertible wheels.

He took them to a place in Lincolnshire (Grantham I think) and they came back completely perfick....................

£25 per wheel with tyres off and £30 per wheel with tyres on and refitted and balanced.

I`m absolutely serious, they look brilliant. They were done in the proper BMW silver and he had a faint shiney fleck put in them. They look the dogs danglies.

Mostly I will be taking my Design 90`s there soon along with my Landcruiser rims.

Note that I have no vested interest, nor does my mate, but I`ll keep y`all posted as to the outcome.

Was it Wheel Care in Grantham???

I had mine done there too and they are still looking as good as the day they were done and that was 24th May 2004.

Highly recommended.

Lee, I think it was.

Its a small set up in a farm building (so nothing pretentious) who deal with top car marque dealers who have a constant flow of business tarting up car wheels for better resale values so can put through a high number at low cost .....................I am told by my friend.

I think that sounds like a different set up.

The one I used was just on the outside of the centre of town. I think behind one of the big super markets.

They were very good anyway. Cost £160 for all 4 wheels, without tyres.

typical I've got two wheels that I want refurbing and new tyres fitting and the guy at Wheel Care is on holiday till next monday and my usual tyre place have bugger-all 225/50 16's in!

Think I'll order the tyres from Black Circles - noticed they have a few Porsche Approved tyres - anyone advise on the best sub £100 tyre for a 944T?

If you want to spend more you could go with the Bridgestones or the Goodyears then. I've never run Toyos, but they and Kumhos get a good review on here. Personally I'd get the Toyos, but you could get the Kumhos and save even more money.

I have fitted Kumhos and havent any issue with them (yet) in comparison withe original Bridgestone SO2`s

Not tracked em yet so dont know how they warm up or go off [&:]

Toyos on mine work well - don't think they last all that long, but that's not really the point is it (otherwise we'd all be driving round on Fen's favourite tyre [;)] )

Shame they don't do the R888 in 245/45/16
