Check this little beastie out, not one for the purists but certainly an interesting conversion.

I've read of several that have done V8 small block conversions in the States but this is the first UK example.

It does seem a lot of trouble to go to for 300 bhp though, granted with tree climbing torque.

Would you want to admit to swapping your Porsche engine for a V8 that now only resides in a Land Rover?

Yes I would if the exhaust noise was right [:D]

There is a UK owner on Rennlist that has done a couple of the Renegade Hybrid conversions using a chevy 5.7 litre, but I've never seen one at any of the events I've been to. Still a rather expensive way to get lots of power when the Turbo can be made to do a similar output very easily.

Anyone got a £500 Lux and a £500 Landrover I can borrow? [;)]

Like you say Paul, take cheep old 944 with a shot engine and make some thing interesting for probably less than the cost of a second hand standard engine. Like it says on the write up, it would sound fantastic.
One of the only faults that I could ever throw at my old 944 was that it sounded, well, ordinary. However, if I were in that position I'd save my cash and mod a 44 turbo every time, unless a nice Guards Red 911 Carrera Sport came up and took my fancy[;)]
