944 Values PP

The following are the average prices for 944 s advertised in Porsche Post (Trading Post section)
August 2003:
Lux (7 cars advertised) £4835
S/S2 (8 cars advertised) £7461
Turbo (5 cars advertised) £8546

August 2006:
Lux (3 cars advertised) £3116
S/S2 (7 cars advertised) £7885
Turbo (3 cars advertised) £7233

Given that everyone advertises cars for a fair amount more than they`re worth I thought that this wasn`t a bad guide to values and depreciation, in of course a hugely generalised sort of way.

Doesn't seem to make sense that average prices for turbos are below that of the S2. Is that skewed by any S2 cabs? (that £16K concours one that has been on sale for ages for example)

The main flaw is that this doesn't show if the car sold or not. My guess is probably lots didn't, or that if they did it was from subsequent ads at lower prices in other publications like Auto Trader, Pistonheads or eBay.

Another interesting little statistic from Keiths figures is that in the 2003 group there were 20 944s for sale and in 2006 only 13.

Could this be indicative of the number that have since met the big breakers in the sky? [8|]

I'd be well chuffed if I could persuade someone to give me nearly £8K for mine!!

In reality, I would expect to get arounf £5K
