944S 16v into 944Lux/924S?

Never build a car you can buy.

You'd need the ecu & loom from the S but unless you already have all the bits (ie an S with a bad shell & a lux/924s with a bad engine) and want to mix & match why not just either buy a complete S or S2?. IMHO it's not enough of a step up to warrant the work involved if it's an upgrade - go for an S2 engine at least [;)]

Yes, but ....

The 924 is lighter (a fair bit, i am given to believe), and more streamlined (less frontal area.)

Lali's 924 with a 968 engine in it (indeed, complete 968 running gear) ate 968's for breakfast, and came back for more.

Lizard, i don't know the answer to your question but do agree it's a good idea. A better idea would be to use the S2 engine, for reasons I am sure you will understand. In fact, if I was planning such a job you'd be one of the first people I'd eMail to ask for advice .... [&:]

Oli.

I think it's quite a big job - Peter Empson has an S2 engined Lux & that was more difficult than they first expected.

Doubt the gains are worth it - even for a track car living at high revs. I'd hold onto the cash until an s2 (or 968) motor comes up.

Hmm bugger, as I feared, was just offered an S lump for not a lot is all.

Cheers gents.

Blimey thats an aggressive swear filter, I only said b.u.gger [:)]

8v to 16v..... huge undertaking and unless you had the Euro ticket for last weekend and you're really, really bored.... don't bother, really isn't worth it.

Same reason I will probably never own an S, if I want to own something better than a 2.5v I'll take 3.0 S2 and nothing less Thank you
