Cheers

Picture would be handy

If yours is an 'S' then isn't that the hall sender? My (limited) understanding is that this works in conjunction with the two knock sensors to identify the cylinder with the problem. I may have also read that if no signal is received from hall/knock sensors then ignition timing is retarded by 6 degrees.

Hi,

Yes you are right but which way round does in plug together ? mine has got a little melted so Im not sure which way round it goes as it will plug in both ways. If its round the wrong way will the car still run?

Regards

Pete

Pete,
Would it help if I posted a picture of mine? I'm at work away from my car at the moment but should be able to post this evening.

Hi,

Yes that would be a starting point for me my main concern is what the symptoms are if its plug the wrong way round, my car seems a little rough on accelerating under 3,000 rpm I admit it is only very slight but is this normal ? she seems to be much happier over 3,000 rpm is this normal ?

Thanks

OK, I'll see if I can take a photo this evening and post it. It may be tomorrow as the Astra has just blown a (head) gasket.

Re rough under 3K - Mine isn't rough it just lacks torque. There's an apparent step in power at around 3000 and then everything kicks in at around 4000.
