944S front Calipers, fitting back to original fitment

Hi everyone, I have recently found out for some reason my 944S I suppose some upgrade before my ownership that the old girl has been fitted with 4 pot Brembo's, so I'm about to take the plunge and go back to the original fitment which are "single pot calipers" fitted to 944S (so referring to parts diagram it indicates two types of single pot calipers fitment which I assume are ATE and Girling??)

So, if anyone could kindly answer if going back to the original "one pot caliper" can I fit either ATE or Girling or do they have to match the same make the brake master cylinder fitted to Calipers, or can I go ATE to Girling with any issues ??

ATE/Girling aside, why do you want to remove the Brembo's? If they are in good working order then I'd keep them as they are a better bit of kit.

Just for originality, plus refurb'ing single pot's are a darn cheaper to have done verses Brembo's. Also I'm not track racing either.

Theyre all ATE. I cant explain the 'Girling' but its been a long day and there isn't a great deal of context.

Simply, theyre the same as all the other series two 944 calipers.

It isn't usual but I don't think that you have made a mistake. Essentially the same caliper was up to stopping 928s. early 911 Turbos and 924 Carrera GTs so itll be plenty good enough for a 944S.

Fair enough - I can understand the desire for originality. And Simon's right about the fact that the single-pot calipers were used on faster, heavier cars so should be up to the job on a 944.

All the best with the swap. And you should make a penny or two back if you sell those Brembo calipers as they seem to be worth a bit second-hand.

I bought a good set for £100. Fools and their money are easily parted, but most multi-part Brembos are knackered and need an extensive refurbishment.

Probably sell mine, plus there are on the vehicle and good nick no leaks and balanced breaking. Any interest for them PM me.
