944S Now running like a dream!

Hi All,

Good news my 944S is now running like a dream thanks to autostrasse, the boys sorted all my problems AND put right those errors from the former owners mechanic ! I think it best that he stays with fords !![:D] Example: plastic cambelt tensioner not changed for metal one, cambelt to tight, tensioner tighten the wrong way ! throttle cable to tight therefore not making idle microswitch making idle erratic, fiddled inside airflow meter to adjust mixture!![] Which resulted in me having to get a secondhand unit. So the moral of the story if you have got a Porsche then take it to those that know and not those that THINK they know!!!![:)]

Congrats, I hope you enjoy it. When the 'S' is set up well it really is a treat to drive and possibly the most ignored of the 944 model. The problems I have had with mine were due to the fact that it had 70K on it when I got it, and almost every problem you will read about on this forum happened sequentially within the next 18 months, (15 year old parts are still 15 years old even if they haven't been to the moon and back). The moral of my story is.... buy one with 100k on it with a good maintenance record, and with any luck all the usual bugbears of this model will have happened already and been fixed, not start to happen.

My signature below is tongue in cheek and is the result of several nail biting episodes in the middle of nowhere requiring burning of incense, mantra chanting and ringing of bells to get home.

Hi,

Yes I agree mine had 118,000 when I bought it so all the other issues should have pasted....hopefully just going to chip it & change the plugs & air filter from promax
